Dr. Michael McCoy began his career as an optometrist in 2001 and has been practicing at Dr. Tavel since then. He practices at our Terre Haute, IN office. Dr. McCoy has several expert degrees under his belt, and graduated with an Opticianry concentration technical degree from Indiana University Bloomington, an Associate of Science of Optometric Technology from Indiana University Bloomington, a BS in Optometry from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry. He is an expert in ocular disease and caring for individuals with special needs, and is AOA and IOA certified.
When asked why he enjoys working at Dr. Tavel, Dr. McCoy simply said, “The teamwork.”
In his free time, he spends time outdoors – hiking, gaming, reading, deep diving on all kinds of fun films. However, he prefers to spend most of his time with his children that he loves very deeply. He has a special needs son who is nonverbal with profound autism. He has a variety of behavioral challenges that require a great deal of care each day. Dr. McCoy is also an expert in providing care for his patients with special needs. His daughter loves reading, film, gaming, learning to drive, and a variety of outdoors activities. Dr. McCoy said about this children, “They brighten my day!”
