Three Reasons Anti-Reflective Coating is a Good Idea

Sometimes it is difficult to know what is worth splurging on when it comes to glasses. Which upgrades are worth the extra bucks? After getting my first pair of glasses from Dr. Tavel, I would say anti-reflective coating is a must.

According to Allaboutvision.com, anti-reflective (AR) coating eliminates reflections of light from the front and back surface of eyeglass lenses. This allows for 99.5 percent of light to enter through the lens. So why do you need it? Here are three reasons AR is a great idea.

1. Lenses look invisible. With AR, your eyes are much more visible to onlookers. Without it, light is reflected off the lens creating a glare over your eyes.

2. Glare and reflections are eliminated. When looking through your lenses,  AR  helps eliminate the halos and glare from outside light. This is particularly helpful when driving at night. Glare from headlights can make it difficult to see without AR coating.

3.  Overall clearer, crisper vision. If you are going to splurge on glasses, you might as well see as clearly as possible. Purchasing  AR coating ensures that your lenses will allow you to see clearly.
