Swimwear, Sandals, Sundresses and…Sunglasses!

The final (and probably best) thing on my wedding checklist is packing for the honeymoon.  At this point, the thought of sitting on a tropical beach for a week sounds very appealing.

As I scanned packing lists I found online, I ran across several mentions of swimwear, sandals and sundresses.  But to that alliteration, I add the most important: sunglasses!

In all the excitement of international travel, why am I so concerned about having sunglasses?  The answer is simple: Because I care about my vision!

Not only do sunglasses look good, but Indiana eye care doctors recommend them to help protect my eyes from harmful UV rays which can have serious effects.  According to Prevent Blindness America, long-term exposure to UV rays can lead to cataracts, macular degeneration, or skin cancer around the eyelids.

Even though my contact lenses provide some UV protection, they don’t cover my whole eye so Dr. Tavel and his board certified associates say sunglasses are still a must! When selecting sun wear, look for lenses that block both UVA and UVB rays.  Great examples of shades with this blocking protection can be found at Dr. Tavel Online.  I can still order sunglasses and have them sent directly to me saving me an errand before my big day.

No matter what warm location you escape to in the coming months, be sure you pack your sun eye wear!
