I have always been told that ‘you’ll learn something new every day.’ An old saying that I find rather true as something new to me can be just about anything large or even rather small or trivial but it is something! Did you
know that January is National Eye Care Month? I didn’t and that is what I learned new today.
January is National Eye Care month, a month where Indiana eye doctors want to make sure patients know about the importance of proper eye health and care. Keeping your eyes healthy should be a priority all year long as our sight is arguably the most important of our five senses. And one of the best ways to keep your eyes healthy and caring for your sight is getting an eye examination by an Indiana eye doctor.
Getting an eye exam this month will put you well on your way to ensuring you have healthy eyes all year long as eye doctors like Dr. Tavel and his board certified associates are able to detect various diseases that often times don’t have visible symptoms. Glaucoma (it is also glaucoma awareness month) is one of these diseases where often times symptoms do not become bothersome or noticeable until serious damage is done to your vision. It is called the sneaky thief of vision for a reason!
Other diseases an eye exam can detect are cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Getting an eye exam can help you prevent damage to your eye sight, something I consider priceless from something I learned new today. Happy National Eye Care month!
