Nov 22, 2013

In a world revolving around medications to cure anything that ails us, it is important to know the side effects. Vitamins and medications can both have positive and negative effects on our eyes.

Allaboutvision.com says that taking vitamins A,C,E, and zinc can protect against diseases like  macular degeneration. While taking vitamins may not  necessarily improve sight, they could help reduce the risk of certain ailments.

Medications like antihistamines and oral contraceptives can have the opposite affect.  The American Academy of Ophthalmology states that oral contraceptives can bring on glaucoma after three years of use.

All medications have side effects that can vary from minor nuisances to major medical issues . Be sure to know the side effects of all oral medications or vitamins. If you begin to notice new visual side effects, come visit Dr.Tavel.
