Dr. Judy Walrath began her career as an optometrist in 2013 as has been practicing at Dr. Tavel since then. She practices at our New Castle, IN office. Dr. Walrath graduated with a BA in Biology from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry. She is an expert in ocular disease and is AOA and IOA certified.
Her role as an optometrist also extends into a leadership role. She is the Director of Professional Relationships and oversees all Dr. Tavel optometrists.
When asked why she enjoys working at Dr. Tavel, Dr. Walrath said, “I enjoy working at Dr. Tavel because I can focus on patient care, knowing I am well-supported by the staff, have access to advanced equipment like the OPTOS retinal imaging, and rely on effective business operations, allowing me to perform my job efficiently.”
In her free time, Dr. Walrath loves playing strategic board gaming and frequently attending events like Gen Con. She has a deep passion for animals and currently has an elderly dog and two playful cats. One of her favorite pastimes is watching stand-up comedy at home with her friends and family.
