Dr. Amy Cardis began her career as an optometrist in 2013 and has been practicing at Dr. Tavel since 2016. She practices at our Beech Grove, IN and Greenwood, IN offices. Dr. Cardis graduated with a BS in Optometry from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry. She is AOA and IOA certified.
When asked why she enjoys working at Dr. Tavel, Dr. Cardis said “One of the things I like about working at Dr. Tavel is the wide variation in patient demographics and backgrounds I get to see. I have learned so much from my patients about eyes and about life in general.”
When asked why she become and eye doctor, she said ” I became interested in optometry because as a child I had a very high prescription and it changed very quickly, so, when I went to the eye doctor I had blurry vision with my glasses, but when I left with my new glasses I could see again, and it was amazing.”
In her spare time, Dr. Caris enjoys a variety of different puzzles, specifically jigsaw and wordle.
